So, I'm not sure how I feel about the Desperate Housewives leap forward five years into the future. I kind of like how it gives us whole new story lines, but without all the lead up, but there are some things that are bothersome. For instance, I'm tired of Gabby looking disgusting. If I want to see a down trodden, life-beaten, mother, I'll just look in the mirror.
And I'm tired of Carlos being blind. Someone please conk him on the head so he can get his sight back and see how greasy his wife looks.
Then there's Gabby's fat four year old story line. I really don't know how I feel about this one. I mean, yeah, no four year old should be that chubby without some parental concern being piqued, but what kind of damage are they doing to that little actress? Poor little porky.
I'm alright with Lynette's story because they've made the restaurant work (thank goodness cause I was sick of their work woes) and I don't even mind the twins being teenagers, but where'd her other kids go? The older son might be in college, but what about the baby girl? Did the twins sell her for beer money?
I'm thrilled Edie is back because she's a great vixen/villain and that husband is scary. Why are blond bad guys so creepy?
Now, let's discuss Susan. Wasn't it a better story when you thought Mike was dead? Then he shows up waving at her and you find out they got divorced because he didn't feel bad enough about the mother and child that died in their car accident? Huh? Say what? WTF. That was a stinker. I mean, come on, after all they went through to finally get it together and they break-up because a stranger and her kid died in a terrible accident that wasn't anyone's fault? I call bullshit on that one. and that painter she's boinking needs a haircut.
The Bree-Katherine tug of war over who's the superstar caterer is kind of irritating. Bree is clearly being a bitch and that's tiresome. Though, I felt terrible for her in the flashback showing her daughter taking back her love child, but Bree was wrong about taking over that kid in the first place. Oh, and I'm glad Orson is back in her life. It's not like he didn't think he had a good reason for running over Mike!
I think it'll be a good DH season, but they need to cut to the chase on a few more things and get interesting quick.

I thought it was a really good episode. Cut Gabby some slack - she's only be unattractive for one episode so far. I'm sure she'll find her way back to gorgeous later this season. Maybe they'll also find a miracle cure for Carlos' blindness. Do you think the fat four-year old might be wearing a fat suit? I can't wait to see what develops with Edie's new husband; you're right, he is totally creepy.
It was a good episode and I know it's only the first with down-trodden Gabby, but that was just too depressing. I do not think that it's a fat suit, but I do think that scenes about her weight being discussed show her only in the background or not at all so maybe she can't hear hew own story line.
