To quote Taz, Bliss spa is blah. If you're seventeen you'd probably really like it, but for us wiser ladies it lacks luxury and amenities. Bliss is bright and modern in keeping with the W's sleek style, but the spa may be a little too sleek.
The locker room was tiny, the robes were dingy, and the staff was uber casual and not in a good way. The pedicure station was set up awkwardly, making me feel like I was at my OBGYN with my feet in the stirrups. Me no likey.
We were also disappointed there wasn't a steam room, but to be fair they had a small dry sauna and a couple of steam showers for individual use.
My facial was okay, but nothing to write home about. But, maybe that's because my facialist spent thirty minutes extracting 165 pounds of dirt from my pores. Seriously, I thought she was digging for treasure, but she did get it all and my pores are clean as a whistle. Still, at $120.00 I want to leave loving my service, not praying I don't scar.
Taz enjoyed her facial and massage, but didn't rate them higher than okay.
We did like the little lounge area, mostly because of the snack bar offering cheese, crackers, green olives, and itty bitty brownies. We liked that a lot. I also enjoyed the music they played in the service rooms. I hate the Enya-running water tunes you usually get so I was thrilled with the Norah Jones softly playing in the background as my pores were violently raped.
Bottom line, we won't make a return trip to Bliss, but are glad we checked it out. The W is lovely and the view from the spa makes you feel like you own a piece of Dallas.

Good to know. I am always on the hunt for a good spa. I like Pure, which is on Mockingbird between 75 and Greenville. But the fabulous massager Linda is moving to California next week. :(
I really want a facial from Carly at Avalon at Victory too. For some reason I don't have trouble spending money on a massage, but I do on a facial. I wonder what that's about.
